Rotary selector for tremolo on a Deluxe Reverb

I'm building a Deluxe Reverb clone and want to use a rotary selector instead of a 3 meg reverse audio pot (which I can't find anywhere).  I've got a six position switch, and am wondering which value resistors to use.  If my thinking is right, the values should go up rapidly (proportionally speaking) and then tail off.  So would, say, 100K, 1M, 1.8M, 2.3M, 2.6M, 3M be about right?

Also, I'd quite like to turn the effect off with the same switch.  Would connecting the first lug straight to ground do this?  Or should I break the circuit where the footswitch normally goes?  (I hate footswitches)
