You're making me feel crushingly inferior due to my total absence of any sort of progress.

Ah, well, I'm fortunate to have a space at work I can do this kind of stuff in, if I wasn't able to do it there it would probably take me about three months just to strip a body.

That said, bloody get on with it! ;)

Aye I know. I will. The three I intend to be very lush.

    Well.

Almost had a bit of a disaster today, as I took advantage of some time to do some painting, and it was clearcoat time. At first all went well, but then due to some inadvertant overspray on one of the sides I found out that it was more humid in my workshop than I thought, as I got a little bit of bloom.

Still, I remained calm and used a heat gun on a low setting at a distance to warm the body a little and dry the air around it and gave the area a little spray - disaster averted. After that I kept the heat gun running just to make sure the room was warmer and less humid (I switched it off while I was spraying, of course).

Now it's going to hang and cure for a few weeks before I give it a final cut and buff. More pics then.

Nice one. Bloom usually looks far more dramatic than it actually is, glad you fixed it without too much bother.

Yeah, I was worried that even if I fixed it it would just keep happening as I had higher humidity than I thought, but warming up the body and my little spray booth did the trick. Still had to keep it pretty thin to be sure as it then got colder and more overcast and started bastard raining, but it all turned out okay in the end and went on nice and clear. The downsides of not having the proper space to do these things in. Anyway, once more the lacquer was great, the cans worked really well and other than the humidity it was basically problem-free, so top marks for your paints @RothkoAndFrost. Would definitely use again.

Now I have to wait for WEEKS before I can finish it! WEEKS! I'm so impatient!

Seeing as the sun was out yesterday I snapped a couple of pictures of it in daylight so you could get a better idea of the colour. This is with clearcoat, but not sanded or buffed yet.
