A strange tale indeed.  One day he just vanished, but.. it turns out he was working for a 'rather secretive' department in the Civil Service, for extra wonga on the side, installing surveillance gear under the cover of his day job with the AV stuff.  Ideal when you think about it really !  I mean, who the hell would suspect !  Anyway, apparently, they had him install some hidden wireless mics in the Ecuadorian Embassy down Knightsbridge when he was doing a big TV-Cinema setup for the great and the good of their diplomatic scene and they rumbled him.  As a 'contractor', the UK officials denied all knowledge and left the poor sod out to dry.  Last I heard he was locked up in some gulag equivalent in Quito.  It was on the news :- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/ecuador/10159884/Ecuador-accused-British-firm-of-bugging-its-London-embassy.html
