Body Finish?

What's Hot
Thinking of my next instrument build, I'd like to finish the body in a similar manner to that on (if you can remember that far back) the old Westone Thunders.  Essentially a natural finish with a degree of protection, but it still felt pleasantly woody.

This is for an ash body.

Trouble is I don't know how; can anyone offer me guidance advice, etc?

  • @wezv has a method and I like wudtone though it's quite soft - comparable to nitro, maybe a bit softer. It's tough enough though, I like it.

I've been refinishing Westone Thunders using stain and tru oil, the original Westone Thunder finish was a thin catalysed polyester (imron), and the oil really isn't that far off, a little more delicate but you can go as thick as you like for different results.
Do check out @Wezv thread on refinishing, it's truly inspiring.
