New posts are cheap, and some of the floyds have replaceable knife edges. It's a beautiful guitar, don't get rid of it! If all else fails you can sharpen the posts with a tiny needle file (or replace the unit)

Another thread that reminds me why I like hardtails...

I always have to laugh when I play with a friend who is a Floyd freak and suddenly he has to tune.  8 minutes later....

Your friend needs a) a unit that isn't junk and/or b) a lesson in how to set it up.
