Is the crack where the fretboard joins the neck by the headstock just in the finish?

That will have a maple neck on it. I have an '84 Gibson V with a Kahler trem, I bought it about 22 years ago for £235. The gibson designer series don't get a lot of love but they are solid well made guitars and the fretboard on mine is the nicest piece of rosewood I have ever seen. It came with dirty fingers pickups, I binned mine and fitted EMG's :-< I think it has new tuners on the explorer they should be chrome. Also the Kahlers normally have Gibson stamped on them. The fretboard looks like ebony on that.
