So here's a thing.
My partscaster Esquire is a very lovely guitar indeed. As wall art it pretty much justifies it's expense, but sound wise I just keep reaching for the Strat, even bearing in mind bridge pickup only use.
So maybe I'm just not a Tele sound guy
Wth that in mind, give me some examples of your favorite recorded Tele sounds.
I can think of loads of recorded Strat tones that make me dribble, but I'm struggling to come up with many recorded Tele tones that really do it for me.

I'm probably alone in thinking that though...
Anything by wilko. John frusciante has some nice ones live, and Brad Paisley has some good ones too.
Keep 'em coming...
Just thought of one myself - although not recorded, saw Robben Ford live a few months ago and he rocked a Tele for most of it - sounded superb.
Ted Green - Danny Boy.
Roy Buchanan - Sweet Dreams
John 5 - Zugg Island Convict, Pulling Strings
.
Steve Cropper and that classic STAX sound! ONLY a Tele...!
Telecasting by Jerry Donahue ( spll?) is a hallmark in clean Tele tone.
Albert Collins for that ice pick blues thing.
Some of Zep II
Stairway solo
Almost any solo on a Country record where you think 'that's pretty good'.
James Honeyman Scott used a Tele a lot in the Pretenders...
..and then Robbie McIntosh took over from him using a Tele.
A lot of Johnny Marr's early Smiths work was a Tele.
Jerry Donahue
Albert Lee
Albert Collins.
Keith Richards is cited above and my all time fave Keith tone is the opening to his solo track 'Take it so Hard' which is rich and full.
Steve Cropper
