  • Yeah do it! It's not the same as real faders but you can for instance hit record in a different room which I find cool for tracking ....

    Mackie Control Universal.
Don't buy anything else- they don't work as well.
Whatever you do, don't buy the Avid system- it is a complete piece of shit.
I know because I have it- I'd dearly like to get rid of it and get back my MCU.

I use an iPad as well- it works well but not as well as having physical faders.

Logic has the template already for the Mackie interface, it maps automatically

I've heard mixed views on the icon Qcon, I know it's an old unit, but the Mackie Control 1 still works, if not try using an iPad for remote

I know that on the Slate forums there was talk of a few issues, tbh I didn't check what they were as I use my. iPad as a remote controller now

Thanks gents.  @dogload, I'm not sure I would have the same love for the Behringer.  She sure ain't a looker.

@sweepy, have you heard of any specific issues?  The Mackie seems to be great too, and if I got one on ebay for the right price, that would be great.
I had the Mackie about 10 years ago, I found it annoying to integrate, the faders were intermittently sticky, and eventually a couple of the faders gave up. Maybe they improved it as some people seem to like it. Seems a bit like old tech now, the Qcon looks similar. The Avid Artist Mix series look like they might be good - newer technology - but they are pricey.

My recommendation would be get an iPad and LogicRemote - the new update integrates extremely well, you can do all you want and tonnes more and it's written specially for Logic so it works. Using faders on the screen is not as nice as real faders of course but surprisingly good. Have you got an iPhone? - If so you can use Logic remote on that, you'll only get one fader at a time, but that will give you a good idea of the general gist of things.
