[Complete] A failed Luthier's Debut... From bin to life?

Firstly, thanks to all the help and support for my first project of this nature. It was completed and now up for sale.
Secondly, a big thanks to Steve Robinson for digging this out for me. The guitar in question is a Paul Cathcart. I think the only one he made.

This is a challenge, due to the poor top. When removing it from the sides two large splits appeared, to join the original splits that were already in the top. Having never repaired splits, I'm Not sure how hopeful I am of repairing them, but they are currently clamped up and supported by a spare section of top. Maybe I'll stick to my saw instead of the household iron in future, but the top seemed incredibly dry to begin with anyway. So bring the upcycle project on. Temple Mandolin 002.

Show me a guitar maker that has never made a MASSIVE mistake and I will laugh myself senseless.

Think around the problems and try and move forwards. If that fails then join the rest of us with good stories to tell!

I've made some repairs to the cracks in the top. The guy who originally commissioned it and gave it to me was here today.

Hi Steve. Sorry, I've been off here quite a while and had bits of time here and there to work on this. I'll upload the next lot of photos, buts it's just ready to start finishing!

I've actually used the same neck. Removed the fretboard and truss rod, cut the neck to size, rejoined the headstock and re-cut the truss rod channel. With these Upcycles, I'm using a simple bolt on system that is proving to be very effective.

Upcycled from the guitar in the first photograph, it has a repaired solid spruce top, solid rosewood back and sides and, what i perceive to be, an ovankol fretboard. Mahogany neck and half rosewood, half mahogany bridge. The only part not made from the original guitar was the mahogany half of the bridge, and the hardware (incl. bone nut and saddle)
