Molex connector to jack output

Hey all - Im currently looking at getting a new pickguard together for my musicman silhouette and ive noticed that instead of the regular wires (hot/ground?) theres a 3 pin molex connector..

Could someone please tell me what actual part name this is or where I could find one? Will mean I can just unscrew the guard then plug it in rather than any soldering each time.

Thanks very much

It's not a great picture but it looks as though it's only using 2 contacts anyway ?

You could find these connectors in the CPC \ Farnell catolouge but you might need to spend hours scrolling through. I would just cut solder and heatshrink

Thank Danny - but if I do that then every time I want to switch out the pick guard Id have to do some soldering.. Id ideally like to avoid that... I was sort of hoping these where pretty common with a common name etc

Can you not just undo the jack and drop it into the body cavity? Or is the tunnel not big enough to do that?

If you can then all you need is another jack for the other pickguard.

You will still have a string ground connection too, or does that go to the jack? If so then you could use two screw tags on the one that's attached to the body shielding.

Hey ICBM - here is an image of my jack, I had the same thought of just using another jack but this one is different and wedged in

Not sure what you mean by a string connector... bit of a novice when it comes to this stuff!

That looks like the power connector to an IDE hard drive except they are 4 pins. I bet a computer shop would throw several at you (all SATA now) and you could saw off the extra bit.

Maplin sell an IDE to SATA converter cable you can buy and butcher.

Does it push through into the control cavity? If so, those jacks are fairly easy to get.

There should be a wire going to the bridge somewhere - it may be connected to that screw terminal in the body, and then to the jack if there isn't a separate wire to the pickguard assembly. If you're swapping the jack you would need to arrange this so it can be undone without soldering as well - the easiest would be another ring terminal attached to the same screw.

It does sound like trying to find one of those connectors might be easiest - I take it you need the other half, since that's the bit that goes to the jack. I'll have a look in my junk box!

@ecc83 yeah Ive seen them on older pc's .. I may have a look in maplin today - thanks for the tip

@ICBM - I did try to push it a bit but it seemed pretty wedged in.. im sure it could be pushed out if needed but from what I have read elsewhere the idea was this system was put in to encourage people to switch things in/out.

Personally id prefer to find this one piece of the puzzle in comparison to anything more involved.. lowers the risk of doing it incorrectly.. ha. If you are able to find one that would be incredible!

I have also contacted their customer service now to see whats what if its a more specialist part.

No luck unfortunately - I have several the same as the part you have there, but none of the other half. I'm not certain they aren't a slightly larger size either. Peavey used to use them as PCB jumper connectors on their old amps.
