neck pocket shape?

My current working plan was basically modified from a pretty complex tele body pdf, smothered with measurements etc. I'm about to make a template to cut the neck pocket, but it seems a little unusual in that the sides both taper inwards as it goes to the front. Is that normal? It means that the neck would have to drop in from above rather than slide in from the front. I have another detailed plan of a strat, and the neck pocket is straight on the bottom edge and tapered inwards on the top edge.

That's the way a Fender neck and pocket are built. The neck pushes in from the top. No you have the neck? You could use the neck to make a template for routing the body.
