Well, here it is, MJW #200 :)

    It's a dual/stereo Goldstar power amp, with 2 independent channels, each with 1 x ECC83 and 1 x EL34 (or a 6L6 can be fitted).

Jonathan @FelineGuitars wanted a dual/stereo version of the individual 10W power amps he's previously had from me, to use in the classic wet/dry fashion, or with preamps/effects units that have stereo outputs.

This one has inputs front and rear to allow Jonathan to connect his various preamps in whichever is the most convenient fashion, and a switch to link both channels together in 'dual-mono' mode. Each output can be connected independently to 8 or 16 ohm cabs, and each channel has it's own HT supply from dual windings on the mains transformer.

Hoping to deliver it in person tomorrow, which is particularly exciting to me, for reasons you might be able to work out! :)image

    Beautiful work as ever.

I think it might be the first time in history someone is excited by the prospect off a trip to South Croydon....

Gave you a LOL for that , but I think you'll find that it's more popular than you think, and not just from my girlfriend.

In fact a few Forum users have already  enjoyed a trip down to Feline HQ

Great photo.  My memory isn't what it was after 15 years of beers but was the guitar on the wall? (ground floor?)

I struggle to find the words of how much I loved Beanos.  Some of things which I've listened to I found rustling through the crates in Beanos pretty much changed my life.  Shake Some Action, down Church St, kind of Reeves Corner (another sad landmark) was another record store I loved.  The guy who used to run the shop got me into some great music which I hadn't heard of.  They were great times.

Yes - actually on the 1st floor but visible on the stairwell as you went up to the first floor.

Ohhhh I thought there were rules about pornographic images being posted on this board... You may need to remove it.

    ;)

That blonde goldstar looks great, and such a useful amp! I'd love to try one, maybe a more early Marshall flavour one. But a 10 watt fender twin based amp for home and recording ticks a lot of home pedalboard fanatic boxes (that'll be me).

Jonathan's 3rd amp is going to be Marshall flavoured. You might like that one!

How can you tell of the delights of Croydon without mention the mighty Eagles? I recall making pilgimages on the bus to Beanos as a kid to track down early Lizzy albums.

Looking forward to amp number 3...... Especially after some experimenting Martin did with different output trannies has revealed which will sound the best with this amp

And here are all three of them. :)

The third one, #201, is just finished. After some discussion, Jonathan went for something a bit different. He wanted to be able to get a range of Marshall type sounds in one amp, going from the rounded bass and smooth distortion of a JTM45, through the sharper and tighter distortion of a 70s JMP, through to an edgy 80s style JCM800, and then possibly a bit beyond.

This is made possible (or as near as is possible with an amp powered by a single EL34 with no NFB in cathode bias!) by the V6-20s 'Rock/Blues' switch, which is a 3-pole switch that re-configures the preamp from JTM to JMP. The switchable boost then rearranges things again to get close to a JCM800 preamp with it's extra gain stage. The variable boost is an extra feature that allows further gain shaping, and makes the boost feature flexible in the Blues setting, where you might want a smaller gain boost (for instance). At the top end it adds a little more gain than a JCM800.

A feature he really wanted was the bright and normal gains of the V6-20, which is a really nice tone shaping feature, beyond the normal 3 band EQ.

So what it is, is a hybrid of the MJW V6-20, and Orion overdrive preamps, coupled with a Goldstar back end.

In addition to all that, this one has an effects loop and digital reverb :)

Liking the optical illusion that the Purple amp is so much smaller than the others
