So in an effort to be more professional looking (cough) , we are looking to get a scrim with stand made up. Any recommendations for companies that do them for a good price?

Thomann do lots of black stage back drops and stands, or did you mean something with a band logo on a printed banner?

Make sure it is flameproof treated and certified! A proper one will be anyway but cheap versions are not always and some venues will allow their use.

I've had a banner done in the past and that was just at a local printers. It was quite often hard to find anywhere to put it on gigs TBH and I think it ended it's days as a dust cover in the sax player 's garage after about three uses. The same band had t shirts done which are my go to apparel for gardening these days.

Pretty much any printers' place who do signage, van signwriting etc will do you a banner for cheap - good shout on it being certified flameproof though, so may need to ask on that. I've had them done for thirty to forty quid just by local printers (there's a place called Made By Young People in Brum who're fantastically hippy and very cheap and friendly to boot - http://www.madebyyoungpeople.co.uk/cheap-poster-printing-ethical-printing)

Our drummer is a printer, so we can have anything we want. For pub gigs the most practical solution is a plain black cloth hung from a gantry, with a printed backdrop in front. The gantry is supported on two speaker stands. We also have two of those pull up displays which can be disposed around the pub, or placed either side of the back drop where space allows.

That video was played to us when we got fire training at work. 

If the people used the fire exits instead of the main doors they likely would have been saved

I remembered this thread and took a picture of our backdrop last night. It was done by a company in Havent, apparently they did one for the Artic Monkeys as well. It was about £120 I think. It's certainly lasted well, it's about 8 years old now

More random Discussion revival. Had to manage 5 minutes of random chat with our PR guy on Friday and raised the made by young people printers and just sent him a link. He orders a lot of stuff and is keen to use local / ethical companies so he's said he is interested. Thanks Mr @IanSavage
