yup, they were amazing. Not heard much with their new singer but Layne Staley was one of the best vocalists in rock imho plus he paired so well with Jerry Cantrall's voice.

Just an incredible band who managed to carve a unique sound in quite a crowded genre.

Rooster remains one of my all time favorite tracks. I used to cover it in an acoustic duo. Getting that intro vocal down was tough, a very, very good rock singer IMO. HAd the power, range but also the dynamics. Cantrell's harmonies just the icing on an already very edible cake.

I really wanted to love them, but the music was a bit too ... dour for me. I liked them, and they certainly had their own sound.

Saw then at rock city when touring Dirt - remember it sounding huge. That bass player didn't seem to quite fit though - think he was a replacement after facelift, and always looked a bit too glam / hard rock for the band - not that you could tell when listening...

My mum bought me dirt for my thirteen birthday back in 1993, I listened to it on repeat for months till it got chewed up, I actually cried so much she went out and bought it again for me.
If I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life I'd go with 'would' I still get goosebumps every time I hear it after all these years.
