  • Free, Thin Lizzy and Led Zep for me.

I can get into Deep Purple in small doses (I have the Mk2 albums) but they've never wow'd me as much as the others. Same with The Who, I like a lot of "Who's Next" but that's about it.

Was it only me who didn't think *classical* rock was a typo? :)

There's plenty of other *classic* rock I like, but that's not quite the same thing ;).

This isn't bad from Sky .. released in 1979 .. very prog rock Camel/Focus/Genesis style .. was recorded at Abbey Road and this was used to test high end hi-fi systems such was the quality of the recording.

  • I bought the Sky LPs. The recordings were indeed good quality, but the music seemed a bit tame, probably because it was a bunch of classical musicians trying to play rock, whereas my head at the time was into rock musicians trying to play classical.
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

The first one (above) side two I liked but the rest was a bit tame. Funny anecdote. The drummer was actually the best rock muso in the band and got asked to join countless bands - even Page approached him apparently. Having seen him live he was very John Bonham like and was very fast across the kit.

And Herby Flowers the bass player reaches the heights (he played the classic bass line on Lou Reeds walk on the wild side and was paid £17) and plumbed the depths - he wrote Granddad for Clive Dunn.

er  ..... yeah ..... 'classical' was a typo, meant classic. Reasonably obvious as Montrose were in no way classical! Heading duly changed.

Sky still count as classic rock as well!
