Hi all,
I've picked up a Victory V40 head. Very, very nice it is too. Got it running through a Zilla Cabs Fat Baby 1 x 12 (oversized) with a lovely Celestion G12-65 speaker.
Loving the feel of it, the dynamics of it are unreal. Responds so well to your pick attack.
It's super lightweight, about 7.5kg. It's got a voicing switch. To me this switch provides choice of blackface or tweed-ish style tones. It's also got a mid boost switch, flick this and you get the mid push and greater range of options from the mid knob, this makes it a little more Brit sounding.
I'm using it as a pedal platform and currently trying out a couple of od pedals. So far the Zendrive is getting all the attention. This pedal sounds superb with the amp voicing set to blackface.
It's got power scaling too, with a choice of 40, 7, 1.5 or 0.5 watts. Currently got it running in Single ended mode at 0.5 watts in the house. Can't wait to try it at a rehearsal.
Pics to follow.
Surprised this amp isn't more popular. It's for players not posers for sure.
Cheers

Yes I have, really nice player, great tones too.
I just prefer tube pre amp distortion to pedal distortion by a long way, so if I had a fendery clean amp like that I would need another channel to put me into acdc land. Was going to buy a victory and use the v40 and my or15 with a head switcher to achieve this but it ended up after I sold the or15 I could get a two channel MJW amp that does exactly what I want basically.
What is the crunchy-clean sound like on the v40?
Even trying gear in a geetar store isn't ideal. You need to hear it at volume in a band situation.

@kjdowd your new amp is awesome in fairness
I used to as well. Then started thinking about gear as tools. Won't let the sppearance put me off now. But i quite like the look of the v40 for what its worth.
Would look the biz with the 2x12 but that overkill for my needs. I tend to play more single note stuff so i like the focused sound of the 1x12. The cab is open back which sounds nice to me.
