    My dad was in the Royal Artillery Band with Julian Bream.

    Bream's tone in this video is fantastic, warm and rounded. I wasn't keen on the first student's tone at all. I like the way Bream plucks nearer the fretboard to get that softer tone - the students tend to pluck nearer the bridge, which sounds too strident to me for this piece.

    He doesn't hold back does he? I assume you need a thick skin for these masterclasses.
    Having said that you don't get as good as Bream without a lot of rigour.

    Compared to John Williams, Juliam Bream's technique is sloppy. I never liked it.
