First go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate
Scroll down to the table marked 'UNODC murder rates. Most recent year'
Then click on 'Rate' twice to show the most dangerous country from top to bottom and then scroll down until you see a country you've been to.

Mine is Brazil at no 17 (with a bullet?).
Yours?

    Yorkshire.

    *edit*
Just noticed the OP says country not county. Probably still be Yorkshire though.

Venezuela (#2) though tbh I'd go for Yorkshire as well

  • Egypt, but I was born and raised in Hull in East Yorks which was pretty scary at times.

Surprised that it isn't higher up the list - Egypt. (129)

While we in Egypt there there was a bomb at the Cairo museum only a couple of days after we'd been there, and slightly more worryingly the massacre of tourists at the temple of Hatshepsut - where we had been - was not long after we got back.

I also got punched in the face by some random twat in Portsmouth.

Russia in '82 was a bit weird. Hard to say if it was dangerous as tourists were very carefully watched.

Probably the Falklands, so the UK effectively. Those little greasy Argentinians were watching me the whole time but I had them in my sights. It was 2005 though, so not as bad as '82.

    Wales.

Cardiff city fans in the 80s and 90's were fucking nut cases.

  • Greenland is surprisingly high on the list at 26.

I've been through Thailand's Bangkok airport, so 104 technically.
But I've been to Malta for real, and that's 143.

I've been to Iceland which is 4th from last, and Japan which is 5th from last. And through Singapore which is 3rd from last.

Brazil's number 18 unless I'm looking at it wrong.

Mine is Dominican Republic at number 20.

France (the only other foreign country I've been to is Germany, which is slightly better).

Probably the most dangerous place I've ever spent a couple of days was a weekend in Moss Side a few years ago, though the only time I've ever seen a gun pointed in anger was at me, during a petrol station hold up 30 years ago which was just down the road from where I am now.

  • USA for me, 121.

My colleague was on a business trip in Moscow and he saw a man in a suit running down the street with a machine gun, then jumping into the back of a van. Bit more lively than yer usual business trip!

Egypt in the early 80s when it was safe, and then East Timor, where I had to get used to the daily sound of smallarms fire (often up into the air so the bullet drops randomly on some really unlucky person), and listen out for automatic weapons, in which case I had to go straight to the safe room in the Consulate. Thankfully, I wasn't there long.
