Can you fit one retrospectively and if so, are you limited in terms of the type of amp you could fit it too - ie can you fit to a cathode biased, push/pull  amp?

The answer was never 42 - it's 1/137 (..ish)

Can be retro fitted, however you would need some form of high voltage LFO.

This is usually a valve in the majority of amps, but can be solid state.

We've developed a small PCB with a high voltage MOSFET based LFO that makes a retro fit easier.

Can be fitted to either fixed or cathode biased amps.

  • There are a few pedal sims for this now. I just got the Source Audio Vertigo and am mighty impressed with it.

Just a less invasive option to consider.

You can apply it to a preamp valve instead of the power valves if you want - that keeps it in the voltage range where a small solid-state circuit can supply the modulation. The Fender Vibro Champ does it this way - although with a valve oscillator - and has a great-sounding tremolo.
