Drums for Recording

I'm new to this computer recording lark and am having great fun. I've got an audio interface, Cubase Elements, various bits of software, a keyboard etc. I want to get some simple drums into the PC. I have access to Toontrack EZ Drummer, but what is the best thing to hit to trigger the sounds. Is it the keyboard? The pads on the keyboard? Or should I get some electronic drum pads with MIDI? I haven't got room for a proper electronic kit, and I'm not a drummer.

Suggestions and advice welcome. Cheaper rather than expensive if possible.

I find just drawing them in with the midi editor is the easiest way.

Yeah, me too tbh. It's certainly the most practical, you need to invest in a proper midi drum kit setup plus be really good at drums to a; capture a human groove and b; have a groove worth capturing.

Ha! My friend and work colleague wrote that! I was gonna throw my name into the hat when they were looking for people to write it, but at the time I was slaving away on music and didn't want the distraction.

It's amazing how quickly you get good a mousing drum parts in. It's much easier than playing them in (and unless your great you'll either spend time re recording the part multiple times or end up nudging bits into time in the midi editor anyway)
