What are the most compact powered monitors that are realistically useful for dabbling in home rec?

(I ran out of characters to type 'recording' :-)

Cos we all know that being tied to 'phones gets a bit claustrophobic, I'd like to have a basic set of powered monitors, but really space is an issue so the smaller the better.

What's what on that?

I check a lot of mixes on small HK computer speakers ... Very useful for checking vocal level and other mids . You can get them for about £20

They won't tell you anything about what's going on below 120 hz or so though

How small do you want - The Alesis M1520's sound great and are 16cm wide by 27cm high so pretty compact, I happen to have some in the classifieds ;)
