As some folks know I bought a house in the Cotswolds about 6 months ago and I've been really busy getting it into shape.
It has been neglected by previous owners- nothing crazy but generally letting things go.
One bit is one side of the house which has a southern aspect and gets loads of sun.
I've spent the last few weeks removing ivy and other climbing plants from the house which revealed something we knew was there but couldn't get access to, which is an old well.
The ivy was so developed that the trunk was about 10 inches across and had also taken roof in the gutters- glad that is gone, it is nasty stuff.
Before: taken just before the end of summer.
After:
Feeling very pleased with myself- we caught the ivy just before it was going to do major damage to the house.
I need to replace a roof, but I was doing that anyway as I want to convert the room behind the well (and old stable) into more workshop space- it will be a room for the CNC & laser cutter plus a wood store.

We have one of those in the back of our house, I've modernised it with some cool yellow fittings since the original build.
