    Just to add to what everyone else has said - all else being equal, a brand spanking new clone will never be as cool as owning the original thing that the clone is based on. You can ponder all the gigs, players, places and things it might have seen in its life. If you're young enough, you can ponder how many gigs the amp had weathered before you were even born. And with the old Hiwatts, there's not even the question of better, modern build quality that there might be with some other amps. They were excellent from the start. You won't be disappointed. 

    RE: The Bulgin socket - you can translate their first mention in this thread as "Keep an eye out for one where the Bulgin socket has been replaced, as it should be a bit cheaper and you won't have to get it done yourself."
