    Rob.

Rob talks total sense. In fact I'm going for this...will see if I can strike a deal.

    Good luck Neil !

I hope he's still throwing kitchen sinks as he builds mine!

The only difference now might be that he doesn't use those paper in oil caps anymore. I think he uses Mallory's as standard now. You need not worry, it will be awesome.

Thanks Rob, I think you're right.
From what I read, it is only the capacitance of a decent capacitor that affects the tone (funnily enough), and having paper-in-oil caps is more of a periodically correct factor, rather than something that really changes the sound. That's what I've convinced myself of anyway, lest I start to suffer from capacitor envy...

Never heard of Doc M amps, but it looks like a quality build to me. Mallory caps, carbon comp resisters. I've never used TAD electrolytics, but they look like F&T's ??

I'd say £700 would be fair. The Blue is a bonus though, simply the best in these amps.

Never heard of it. Maybe a home build but looks nice.

Tasty but personally I wouldn't trust a home build unless I knew the guy who did it and knew how thorough he/she was. Big voltages in these amps flying around

FFS why did I read this? And it's in Preston.... Actually, to talk myself out of, it's on the pricey side.

I have to say I thought he's asking too much for it taking into account its 11 years old and one can buy a new one for £1600

Actually, I'd say it's a decent price. New it would be £1695 + extra for those paper-in-oil caps. And he's accepting offers too. Considering the price Lazy Js go for second hand....

    Go on someone, buy it!

Of course, it's not as much of a bargain as the Gartone I have in the classifieds ;-)

Yes that is a bargain you are selling just too big for me at the moment. Seriously fighting this eBay Gartone though. At least it's an animal I know much about :)

Just can't bring myself to pay £1250 for it. Probably wouldn't be able to shift it on again at that price methinks :(

Perhaps so....I guess the Lazy Js are a law unto themselves in terms of resale value. You could always throw an offer in and see what he says.

Lazy Js are better known and have more of a myth about them due to the waiting list, etc. Hence the higher retail value whereas gartone amps -whilst great- probably sail under the radar more. I would say it isn't the best price, I know what I'd pay for it
