Home-made Vibratone - demo

I finally finished my homemade Vibratone clone and have done a short demo.

It sounds bloody lovely, IMHO. What do you think?

Technical details:

Japanese Fender Telecaster with Vibromate + Bigsby + Graphtec saddles, Kinman 50s pickups in middle position.

Traynor YRM-1 head into homemade Vibratone with Celestion G12T-75

Here's the only one I can find for now:

Traynor and Vibratone on the left, heavily modified Fender Bandmaster on the right (in custom 1x15 combo cab). Oh, and my G2-based pedal board.

The recording was just guitar -> Traynor -> Vibratone.

The Leslie unit came from a 70s Farfisa organ which I modified to take a 12" speaker. I then had a replica cabinet built by a very clever guy here in York. Finally, I designed a switching circuit that uses relays to turn the motor on and off and switch between slow and fast. This allows me to use a remote footswitch safely. I got some PCBs built (still got 9 left if anyone wants one!) and mounted it in a box inside the back of the cab.

It sounds even better in conjunction with the Bandmaster. Huge sound!

And a damned sight cheaper!

Not counting my own time, I've spent about £800 - most of that on the replica cab.

That Leslie on ebay is a bargain.

A good project, and sounds great.

The best value Leslies for guitar are the bass rotor only passive units such as the 110.
