I'm guessing it didnt go well Strum, if its any help I was turned down twice for my current job and kept hounding them, eventually they cracked and gave me a job after my 3rd interview, everybody that started at the same time as me (in the role that I was turned down for twice) has left because they can't hack it, I'm still here! 

Tenacity or downright pestering can pay off, best of luck.

I asked for some feedback to which I received this reply..

Hi David,
Your interview went very well and we didn't really have any negatives at
all.
We actually came across someone who had done this system before and felt
they had that extra step on the ladder to you.
I have spoken to Oliver and we feel that if you could maybe do a course on
the Apex system with F1 we would certainly feel more inclined to take you
on.
I do know they are shortly going to be holding such courses around the
country.
We wish you luck in the future.

so I guess I have to take a positive from that, although I struggle when it is a negative situation, and I have already contacted F1 Personnel RE Apex training as the job did really interest me and Apex seems to be the most used system for this area.  They are going to contact me when they have finalised dates/areas of next training course.

in the meantime I have a lead on a bit of photography work, its only a short term contract but I will go for it if offered.

so a mainly downer day yesterday that ended not too bad I guess.

Tough that they found someone else, but that's a really good constructive response to your feedback request. Sounds like the interview itself went really well, which is excellent for the future.

Things happen for a reason - if you didn't get it the job wasn't the right job for you - and the right one will turn up.

Which might not bemuch comfort at the minute but I'm sure you will agree when your dream job appears over the horizon.

Good luck with the photography contract - that may open some fantastic doors.

That's a very positive response and it sounds pretty genuine. Get the course under your belt and have another crack.

Sounds like you did  very well.  And the feedback is excellent (and rare in my experience).  Unless it bankrupts you, consider the training and tell them when you've done it, never know ....

Unlucky mate, as others have said, good feedback! 

I've got an appraisal at work today - I'm massively underpaid/valued for what I do (i.e. just about everything) - so we'll see how that goes
