I've found another good use for a looper - practicing scales (really, practicing getting my fingers in the right places) on cello - record a long open string, then you can pitch against it. Also good for interval recognition by ear.

I love them and I'm completely useless with them.
Never tried one. Would love to have a go. But I know I would be shite.

    This.

I do use my looper when practising .. you can't beat playing with yourself when there's no one else around ... ;-)

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

its a bit too strong - needs a bit more milk in it IMO. And a single sweetener - not sugar.

20 years on, Phil Keaggy is still the master looper. 2:10 onwards, although the intro is stunning, so I'd recommend not missing it out!

WOW!! Thank you for introducing me to Phil Keaggy:) Truly inspirational.  And 2 x capos! The man means business;)

Doesn't get much more honest, unique and humble than Bill Frisell.  He's freezing chords and looping here.  It's a great ride and well worth the listen.

Brilliant creative tool, if ya ask me.  Looks like Bill is using the famous --->  https://bolesblogs.com/2010/07/13/the-grolsch-beer-guitar-strap-lock/

Wow. Not only is it very impressive, but it's takes a serious amount of confidence to trust your own timing to get so many loops running perfectly. Incredible stuff.

true, true, but it would benefit from involving more hot beverages.

9 minutes I thought I'm not watching all that then left it running while I put the kettle on and listened to the whole thing, glad I did it too it is very interesting.

Not bought a looper yet but I remember having hours of fun with a WEM copycat and a long tape loop.
    Don't touch that dial.

I used to have a ditto but only done the same 3 tricks with it.
Never used it for any proper practice and eventually moved it on.

  • For me, I never thought I would use the looper much. But I use the one on the stereo memory man a lot. I play something backwards or soundscape and let that loop while I can then change the delay back to normal and play over the top. In my jam like psychedelic band. It's been a revelation

I've been enjoying William Tyler a lot recently. His looper demo is interesting:
