Yay! Got me amp back from the clinic...

Well, first off I had to find a new amp guy as the one I was gonna take it to died from a heart attack 3 months ago! RIP Neil...new amp guy is called Ed who gave the preamp valves a clean bill of health, replaced the pair of output valves with JJ EL34's from Hotrox and rebiased the amp as it was running too hot. Gave the guts an overall thumbs up and said it sounded, "Really rather good and surprisingly bassy".
It sounds massive - there's LOADS more bass than there ever was and certainly less mains hum than before.
Damage to the wallet? 55 quid. Well fucking happy. Sounds great for a badly thought out combo with a shitty cab.
