  • To create a more structured practice routine so that I can progress from the "crap" stage I've been at for two decades into the "slightly woeful" stage. I have high hopes that this time next year I may be "distinctly average".

I'm thinking this thread should be a sticky. So we can see who's actually managed to do anything later on in the New Year!

    :-)

It's an interesting one.  There's some resolutions on here which some people need to do.  And there's stuff which people would love to do.  It's all good.

So... what is the deal with motivation?

    What is it that clicks?

What does it take to change?

    Tips?

  • Want to build my own amp, maybe a tweed champ to start off and learn with. Not interested in buying more guitars or pedals etc But want to pursue slide playing, so I can play it at least 50% of the gigs I play.

My main goal is to get my full motorbike license and buy a big, fast bike and ride it relatively sensibly.

Other than that, play more guitar and get ready for the move back to Oz at the end of 2015.

  • I need to:

    Find a new drummer
Lose some weight and get back into shape so I can tackle the 3 peaks this summer

    I want to:

Learn the saxophone (already got one on hire so part way there)
    Finish my telecaster build
    Do some ear training

NEVER adding 'Have a' to a post letting the receiver know that I'm awarding them with a coveted wisdom, lol or wow. Because it's gay.

  • I don't do new year's resolutions any more, as we've all seen on here and no doubt in our own lives, you never know what's coming so why procrastinate 'til the end of the year, month or even day?

Easy to say, not so easy to do but I reckon if there's something you need or want to do just do it.

Planning and preparing towards achievable goals is something else, but even that has to have a beginning so why not make that today?

Contribute more heavy metal solos to other peoples' albums and play at the O2.
Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.
