Will a Bluetooth pick make you a better player?

Pickatto is a new pick that uses Bluetooth technology to sync up with an app on your smartphone, providing you with information about how many plucks are made and how much pressure you exert on the pick. Plucks are then broken down into upstrokes and downstrokes by percentages. A meter in the app shows when you’re holding Pickatto too hard or too loosely, to help you improve your grip and play with a relaxed hand.

    The only pick that will make you good is the pick of destiny.

    Use your ears. If it sounds shite, your technique needs work. If it sounds good, you're fine.

    If you can't tell, you need a good guitar teacher who can watch you play and make practical suggestions, not some crap gimmick.

    I don't ever want to hear a record made by someone who learned to play by using a bluetooth pick.

    It'll appeal to the kind of people who are interested in how many steps they have taken in a day but to answer your question... no.

    would be fun to try out and see exactly how many times I pick a string during a typical rehearsal, bit of a gimmick though

    @PolarityMan

    Might be funny for bragging rights, it's the sort of thing I can imagine posting stats from on social media. I wonder how fast it tracks? Could keep up with the tempos in my thrash band?

    I think it might provide useful information to a player taking their technique seriously. Much as they do a lot of video and other analysis in sport.

    However, to a lot of guitarists this'll fall into the same hole as learning theory or to read music.

    It might be interesting to use once in a while but yeah I agree it's more of a gimmick rather than something useful.
