Love my Lazy J20 and pedalboard, but realizing that the venue I play in live needs a silent stsge ie no amps etc. I am heading towards Helix or???? Help....

Or you could keep your pedalboard and just stick any amp modeller you're happy with at the end of the chain and call it a day.

More Twin than tweed, but how about an AMT F1 at the end of your board? The analogue approach may be more in keeping with what you're used to with your amp.

Seemed to work ok for Burgs ...

I've not tried the F1, but I've had a number of these and they have an amp 'feel' to them. The cab sim is pretty shit though, sounds like a Palmer or similar.

For this sort of thing I'd also want a Pangaea to host an impulse response and have some decent in ear monitoring.

Been using an Amplifire for this purpose and it's great.

Was initially a stop gap before i bought a Helix but I'm not sure ill bother now.

    You mean  ax8 ;-)

I'd agree with adding an amp sim pedal to the end of your board though -  tech21 would great  or amplifire for a bit more cash.

I think the Sansamp GT2 at the end of your pedal board should work well.

Or pick up a Pod 2 or XT second hand for peanuts.  The older Pods didn't do great crunch but some of the cleans were quite good.  If you have decent pedals then a Pod at the end of the chain is an option.

  • Put my Two Notes Torpedo CAB at the end of your pedal chain, it's in the Classifieds.....

The Tech 21 flyrig is a really great option if you want pure simplicity. The preamp section is based on the Tech 21 blonde which gives you a bunch of fender amp emulations. I've had it running through a yamaha dxr12 and it sounded amazing and it doesn't cost a great deal. The other one that would be worth looking into if you want something simple would be the ethos overdrive. I've heard some really great results with that and the offer a lot of modding options on their website. However the helix is also great as a more advanced option.
