As good an actor as Johnny Depp may be ...I think to remake Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a perfect example of failure

I just think that to 'remake' a comedy is a really uninteresting thing to do. Having said that I like Melissa McCarthy.

I'd probably take a look when/if it shows up on Netflix

Think it'll be ok but Hollywood intentionally making them female smacks of pro-discrimination or whatever you call it (hey, I just got up..). Also, hope it doesn't reek of chick flick humour and that they take it seriously, to a degree. Will go see it!

I think the idea that making this a mostly female cast as feminist is twaddle really. I'm sure it's far more about bums on seats - Ghostbusters formula + Bridesmaids formula= money. I struggle to believe anyone is using this as a political platform ( and if they are why is it apparently - if you watch the trailers - racist?).

Saw the trailers for the first time this morning - it doesn't look good (as in, pleasing to the eye - the effects look awful, almost as if it's poking fun at the original?), I sincerely hope the funny bits were not the trailer because it wasn't funny at all (the selfie?) and it was generally cringey. It won't be getting my money.

I will, however, pick up a copy of the original today

Nolan Batman is one of the few that justified the reboot. Outside of that, I'm struggling. 

On the subject of shit films, I watched Jupiter Ascending this morning. Outstandingly shit but possessing a campy fun that means it's hard to really dislike.

Came to post exactly this. I'm sure there are some who don't like it because it's women and they're twats, but most of us just see it for the shitty film it's clearly heading towards being. 

It's telling that the studio has a review embargo till release day, which is a standard way of telling the market "we know the movie's a complete turkey, but we'd at least like to get a big opening weekend from idiots who'll watch any old shit"

Yeah the Bale Batmans are good, the only superhero film that I actually like too, although I'm probably the only person on the planet that didn't like Heath Ledger in it.
