I have 10 IKEA chopping boards- what am I making?

Is it a Self portrait photo booth with a tablet and a camera set into the wood, inside the box?

Is it for the guests to walk up to and take their own photo's like selfies, using the tablet to edit and frame it etc?

Yeah, there is a mains extension block that will sit inside, which has USB ports on it to power the tablet. The camera will be running off mains as will the flashgun that sits on top of the box.

It looks good!  But to be honest, I still don't understand what it does.... as soon as I see a tablet or a smartphone my brain gets a bit addled and goes back to the age of steam.

There is, but I don't know which one as I'm just designing and making the box. It's for my mate and getting it all working is his concern!

Cheers! It's been fun making a piece of furniture again, it's been 20 years since I was a cabinet maker and I've missed it.
Basically it's a photo booth without the booth. Rather than sit inside a small booth to take your own photos at a wedding (like you would a passport photo booth in the Post Office), this one is self contained and free standing. This is more discrete and you stand in front of it with the venue itself as the backdrop. You use the tablet to frame your shot and control the camera.
Or at least that's the plan!

Thanks, I think I understand now!  I was envisioning people having to put their heads inside the box, which didn't seem a very enticing prospect...
