turning an old WAH into an expression pedal - questions...

I had a broken WAH and I saw this:

So I'm giving it a go.

I've tried it with my Helix and it works to a point, but not very well.



If I'm honest I just gave it a go to see what would happen - I'm guessing the pot is not right for what I need.
I was reading up about adding resistors in parallel to change the value of the pot - will this work?

Would I be better off with a 20k Bass WAH pot?

Any thoughts would be great - cheers.
