I'm intrigued, is it greater than the sum of its parts? Or is it just a reverb & a tremelo?

  • It is a thing of sonic beauty. Three beautiful warm reverbs, and 3 great trem types (harmonic trem is just belter).

    It's a reverb and a tremolo!  But...
    It's a great reverb and a tremolo.
The trems are distinctive; the reverbs are distinctive.
    So...
E.g. the 60s trem is almost uni-vibe-like in "throb"
The spring reverb -- which some say isn't good but I personally think is what sold me on  the pedal -- is splashy springy fun
The plate 'verb is to die for
The 80s 'verb is to die for again
    And...
Every parameter is super easy to adjust with big rotary knobs, not a digital menu in sight.
Juice hungry at 250mA iirc (maybe 200mA) and fucking fussy about having its own isolated power -- the little bugger hummed like anything till I put it on a Cioks PSU.
    But...
    I love it.

I don't like Strymon pedals very much but I really liked the Flint. The 80's verb and tube trem were the only settings I used and if I ever needed another trem and verb pedal, I'd happily pay the asking price just for those settings.

    The tube trem is great
Harmonic was fun but I didn't find it useable live.

Spring was a bit boingy for my liking.
Plate is my all time favourite reverb.
80s is awesome for spacey goodness.

All in all a great pedal I'd have another.

If I had to choose one pedal to keep and use over all others it'd be the Flint. (And I own a line 6 helix!)

  • I'm in the same boat as @JDE ; I haven't really liked any of the other Strymon pedals enough to splash out on one (snigger) but after 10 minutes with the Flint I had to have one. I like to try and just have a few pedals on my board and it's perfect for that due it's "2 in 1" nature. There is no compromise on the tones though, don't let the dual function make you think it's a jack of, erm, 2 trades...

In short, it's great. Best trem I tried and the reverb is excellent. As good as any in pedal form I'd say.

With an expression pedal controlling the trem speed, it's really a fantastic useable pedal

I really like the idea of the Flint and really considering one. Would you put it in FX loop? The only thing I struggle with is how to integrate a delay with it as typically a delay would go between the trem and reverb for me.

Stick in in the front.  For what it's worth I think the Flint goes in the front end exceptionally well.
And as it happens I have a delay just before it.
