FS: Mesa Triple Rectifier - 3 Channel head SOLD
What's Hot
Bought to familiarise myself with the later Rectos. Its a great amp and very flexible. It has a clean channel that remains clean even if the other two channels are set to Modern high gain mode, unlike on the 2 channel version. The front panel mode switches and Solo boost are very nice, as is the RAW mode for channel 2 & 3 and Pushed mode for channel 1.
- 3 channels, 150w (loud cleans!)
- Foot-switchable, channel-definable FX loop
- Separate Solo boost control
- Mesa footswitch, but also has 4 tip-sleeve 1/4 inch jacks for 3rd party switching (eg a midi footswitch/looper/switcher)
- Spongy/Bold variac switch
- Solid State or Tube rectification
Rectos are not just high-gain amps - though they definitely defined that sound. Vintage and Raw modes produce amazing blues and Marshally rock tones too. Its a very versatile head and greatly under appreciated outside heavy guitar genres. Three channel Rectos have reduced fizz at lower volumes, something that people sometimes complained about with the 2 channel heads.
As I have a 2 channel Recto already and don't use cleans live this is now surplus to requirements.
It's in very good condition, and comes with the 5 button Mesa footswitch. Will post pics soon.
NB. A Triple is not 'too loud' compared to a Dual. 150W is not 50% louder than a 100W and at lower volumes you won't notice the difference. What it will do it give you extra headroom on cleans and a bit more dynamics on rhythm when playing the amp live. If you go from clean to heavy rhythm during your set then a Triple can be a very good idea and beats carting two different amps arround. His brain was pickled
But yes, an amp that is twice as loud (+10db) as a 100w amp would be 1000w, not 200w (which is only +3db). 100w to 150w is +1.5db which is barely noticeable (1db is close to the Just Noticeable Difference in sound level).
