Man,

I'm in a great creative vein at the moment; all helped by the following creative devices;

1.) Digitech Trio Plus

Even above my FX8, this is THE best device I've ever owned. Full stop.
Incredibly creative, and truly inspirational.

Best money I've ever spent :)

2.) Fractal FX8

Best verb and delay Ive encountered, superb stereo output etc etc

3.) EHX 45000

Old school style mixing and 4 channel creative genius.

4.) Shubb Fine Tune Capo

Expensive, but opens up a literal new, stable, perfectly tuned world !!

What are your best creative, inspirational 'devices' ?

My Cornish pedals especially P-1 and BD-1 through my new Hi-Tone DG30/15 2x12......breathtaking and inspiring for me.

    ZVex SeekWah and Fuzz Factory.

I wrote two of my best songs directly based on the inspiration their sounds gave me. I'm pretty sure that's not true of any other gear I've ever owned.

A soldering iron. It has enabled me to modify the electrics of every guitar I've owned. At the moment I'm playing with the pickups, pots and caps in two Telecasters, trying to work out how much of the tone and responsiveness is due to component values, variations between individual components of the same nominal value, and the materials and construction of the guitars.

  • A really good reverb pedal. I've tried almost all of the best and there's nothing I find as inspiring as a huge cavernous space for your playing to sit within. Strymon, Eventide, Neunaber, and all of the other high-end reverbs...I've loved them all.

  • Fractal Axe FX 2. Does everything I need for recorded guitar sounds (just add a range of good quality IRs).

MXR Bass Octave Deluxe. I just prefer the sound of analogue octavers and I really like this one. So much fun

  • Everyone who's mentioned the FX8 (@Wazmeister and others)... can you integrate other drive pedals and tone shaping pedals like a Dr Scientist Cleanness into the patches you create on the FX8?

Ditching the pick and learning a bit of jazz ,just basic stuff has totally opened up the guitar to me. I've been playing Jags/Jazzmaster for about 15 years now so the trem has just become part of my style. As far as pedals go the Digitech whammy is endless fun and I love the odd sou ds you can get out of a polychorus which has proved useful when I have played in electronic type bands.
