2nd tier build idea

i found these brackets at my DIY store and wondered if two of them could make a good support for a 2nd tier on my pedalboard.

A 60x17 cm piece of wood 80mm thick would run across them. 
Terrible idea?
there are two available sizes: 6.5cm or 7.5 cm. 
The 6.5 interests me as the total height plus the wood is almost the height of my gigrig G2.
