Thoughts/question about DVRs

I was having a discussion about DVRs the other day, and one of the participants mentioned something I'd not really thought about.  

When I bought a VCR many moons ago it could rewind/fast forward quickly and, importantly, slowly.  

As we were talking about some techniques down in the olympics that were very fast the bloke said that it was annoying he could watch it in slow motion.

Does anyone here know of DVRs that do slow motion?

Most of them will do frame advance, put it in pause and then press f/f. That gives a sort of slo-mo.
