Windows PC based looping software?

mrkbmrkb Frets: 6911
I've managed to setup my home music room to allow me to send the AUX feed from my mixer to my soundcard, so I can loop edrums, bass,  guitar, vocals etc quickly and easily into the PC to make stuff to jam along with.

I've tried out Ambiloop (which now seems difficult to find) which allow 8 tracks to be easily created and mixed, but I am interested in any more modern options I can try before i start learning it in depth.  I'd prefer a loop based workflow rather than a DAW approach - something like Loopy on IOS (https://loopyapp.com/) would be good. Any recommendations?

I'm too much of a Luddite to have done anything with this myself other than a quick test but Mobius gets a good rep. Adrian Belew uses it live so that's a pretty good recommendation. It's based on the old Echoplex Digital Pro looper, 8 independent tracks and there are videos on YouTube demonstrating how it can be integrated with Ableton Live.

    And it's free!

I think Ableton is the default suggestion, so I will make it.

I have not actually used it - I got into FL Studio back when it was called Fruityloops and haven't been tempted away.
