Wampler Paisley Drive alternatives?

I'm looking at trying a Paisley Drive with my setup (Tele into a tweed bassman type amp) but before I go for it was wondering what else does a similar thing. As far as I can tell the Paisley Drive is an 808 type pedal but with options on the midrange and a switchable presence circuit? Any other recommendations for pedals I should be considering? I play rock n roll, blues and country rock.

Unless you are dead set on a tubescreamer type pedal you should try a Klone before you decide, something like a J Rockett Archer should be available for trial, most of the rest are boutique and will be hard to try first. Everyone has a different opinion on which is the closest to the actual Centaur but they are all pretty close.

The Klones have a faster transient attack and have less compression than the TS style pedals. I use mine as a clean boost with just a hair of gain to add some magic to a clean sound or crank the volume on the pedal into a driven amp and add gain to thicken the sound to taste. Mids are added as the gain is increased.
