  • When you can build most of the boutique dirt pedals you've heard of with <£30 worth of bits (almost half of which is the enclosure and the footswitch) and a few hours' work I'd be hard pushed to spend £200+ on one. All I'd get is a nicer paint job.

That said, I do have a Foxrox ZIM- the enclosures are custom made and extremely sturdy, the concept- removable "cards" contain the circuitry for the particular flavour of dirt you want- is unique, it's a true dual overdrive that can be set up with the different channels at different points in the signal chain and it sounds mint.

Considering you get all that for the same sort of money as most single-channel fancy tubescreamer clone "boutique" overdrives I'd say it was well worth the spend.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

Dunno. Its a question about how you assign value really.

I mean hypothetically, if there were no tube screamers widely available and you could only get them in limited off custom runs for 200 pound each, would they be "worth it"?
