Recommend me a good tweed type pedal.

I am overwhelmed by videos on youtube demonstrating tweed type pedals. I have been looking at both Wampler tweed 57 and Black 65. Also been looking at Catalinbread No5 and Formula f56. Can any forum member put me in the right direction

I thought the Lovepedal 'Les Lius' was the benchmark for tweedy goodness, but I may well be woefully out of date...

I think of the lazy j pedals for tweedy overdrive.

  • i've had a few - the Wampler Tweed and both the Catalinbreads among them - but (with apologies to those bored of hearing it) the Bearfoot SYOD3 is very tweed deluxe-flavoured and in my view sounds better than any of the others I mentioned

I think you recommended the Weehbo JTM drive to me earlier on in the year, which I bought. It's a superb pedal.

  • Red Llama, or one of the clones for a cheap option.

probably did - glad you like it. Marshall to the core that one though. The Bearfoot is capable of being more ragged and tweedy

I took your advice on the weehbo jtm drive which turned out to be a cracker of a pedal.

Got mine earlier today, not had a lot of time with it yet. Was wondering how you set up yours.

  • From memory (am not home) gain about noon, volume to taste, bass about 2pm, treble about 10pm, switch in left position

I had the Catalinbread 5F6 Formula and thought it was excellent. Although not meant to be a Tweed pedal, the Way Huge Pork Loin does the jangle, chime sound with some hair on it and pairs up well with other ODs.

The Dano Coolcat Transparent Drive gives you some Tweediness... I actually use it with my Tweed Deluxe for extra focus

Totally agree about both the Catalinbread and the Pork Loin.
In fact the Pork Loin pairs up well with pretty much every pedal, amp and guitar I've tried it with.
