Pet Passports

Anybody ever done one of these? I have a notion of how it is supposed to work but the practicalities of the system aren't very clear in my head. Having just returned off holybobs we are already thinking about the next one and we might even get abroad next time (well, France, which is basically Cornwall with nicer bread).

Getting our jack russell to stand still on the little round stool they have in the photo booths might be the first barrier.

It's fairly simple. You apply for it.  To take your pet abroad he would obviously need certain injections.  When you take them to the vets, at the same time the Vet fills out a brief description of your dog and confirms breed etc and stamps it off and confirms microchip ID.  It's been about 5 years since I did mine so it may have changed.

I gather it changed in 2012, although to make it less restrictive. So if it was simple 5 years ago for @randomhandclaps I guess I ought to be able to manage it now.

The only other thing to remember though is if visiting Peru, do not let your Jack Russell carry bones for any other dog through security.

My dog has a Swiss pet passport, as that is where we got her.

The system is easy and works well provided you never miss a vaccination.
