Surely as a man of your playing ability a trio would make more sense? Especially if the drummer is sh!t hot as you say. Might give you both a chance to stretch your legs and get more out of it?

FYI I do record the rehearsals. I need to get an audio app though as I take videos which are huge files. 

Why more difficult? I try the acrobatic stuff on the acoustic, which is harder to play. Also do some proper fingerstyle, and sing at the same time. Less room for error etc. Lot of respect for folk who do this!
