NPoD - Friedman...

GadgetGadget Frets: 896
As in "New Pedal ordered Day" :)

... and it's not the BE-OD!

It is the Sir-Compre, which doesn't seem to have been mentioned around these here parts yet (?)

It looks interesting, featuring a compressor and overdrive in the same pedal. Not a new concept, I know, but with this being a Friedman I have high hopes for mucho tone :)

I think, therefore.... I... ummmm........

Looks like an interesting pedal - I'm surprised there aren't more demos online apart from the namm announcement (the be od has more demo's than any other new pedal I can remember).

Yes, I was very surprised. Looks like they've been shipping at least for a short while in the US, so you would have thought somebody would have done a demo. Not much chat about them online either.

Based on the strength of the BE-OD, I have a Sir Compre on the way now too. :)

Anyone know when they're releasing those tube pedals they also showed at NAMM?

Haha :) I'll race you to the full set!

The Friedman website has no mention of any other pedals yet, so I presume they're some way off production / distribution?

  • Hopefully not a stupid question but why would any player want more compression with their dirt? Don't dirt pedals compress all by themselves?

No such thing as a silly question :)

Not everybody will want compression added to their dirty sounds, although it's only really with high gain that you get that.

These are two separate pedals, so I won't necessarily use both together anyway.

With regard to the Sir-Compre, the gain is really there to add a little grit and overdrive, should you want it, rather than all-out distortion. Its scope can be set via an internal trim pot. http://friedmanamplification.com/manuals/SIR-COMPRE_INSTRUCTIONAL_MANUAL.pdf
