    Some really impressive stuff in this thread. For the sake of balance, I'll answer the OP's question from my perspective, in an  metal originals band: three gigs in one month. With breaks between gigs of several months, sadly, for all sorts of reasons. A more accurate indication is perhaps that we've played about 25 shows since starting out in 2011.

  • My band Glas do around 255 gigs a year.. have done since 2012..they include tours and local gigs..festivals..support slots and one off's as well as regular bookings.

    The most gigs I've done in a year is about 150 (with a day job).

    I was much younger then, but it was hard work.

    Bands used to make money mainly from gigging, so the schedules in the 50s and 60s were savage.

    I worked with a drummer who was pro in the 60's and he remembers driving for Torquay to Newcastle (!); and this was before motorways.

    He says they left the gig in Torquay just after midnight and arrived in Newcastle at around 5.00 in the evening of the gig.the following day.

    As mentioned above BB King racked up over 14,000 gigs in his career.
