I'm just gobsmacked.

As someone honoured to be an MCC playing member, and to have represented the Club on 11 overseas tours, I have made so many friends through the game and MCC. It's one of the biggest honours in the game to be a playing member.

In two weeks, we've lost two of the biggest characters in MCC-

A lad called John Fosbraey, a leg spinner from Brondesbury CC who died at 37 from bowel cancer.

Then, last night, David Otway, 51, MCC North West Area Manager, died on a pennine pass in a car smash. I toured with Shotters in 2006. He was the only man to get suspended from MCC for lining up 13 gin and tonics's behind the stumps at Manchester Grammar School!! Classic tale.

I am feeling rather mortal at the moment.

And stunned.

Sad news mate, bad when they go too young. 37 is tragic, as is 51.
