It's a cruel disease for all concerned, took my Taid years to die while suffering from it.

Its gonna be the big medical issue of the next 20 years IMO (behind cancer natch) hopefully some good will come out of the recent celebrity sufferers and campaigns.

Poor bloke, feel for him and his, like Terry Pratchett it seems worse somehow when it afflicts those that put so much stock in words/literature/language.

I have a friend whose father has been diagnosed with dementia. He was an exceptional pianist, a gifted artist and a very intelligent and funny man. My friend is devastated by the toll it's taking on his dad. In a way, its worse than just a sudden death - he's nothing like the man he was - but still alive. Very, very sad....

It's awful as you occasionally get a glimpse of the person they were.

Before he was too far gone my Taid was still living at home but could barely speak, I was doing some work on my grandparents garden (he was a brickie by trade, built my parents extension in his 70's, super fit and a semi pro footballer in his day) and digging up the ground before putting edging stones in, he watched me struggle then got a tool out of his garage and showed me an easier way of doing things.

he always had a great sense of humour, he'd have been laughing at his useless soft handed grandson before showing me how it was done.

Absolutely - remember people are living longer - there are a lot of 85 year olds around where the incidence is very high

Norway is learning how to manage a $882 billion sovereign-wealth fund
    http://econ.st/2cHte7i

"around 46% of Norway’s expected total haul of oil and gas is gone—the relative importance of the fund will grow. The annual revenues it generates now regularly exceed income from oil sales." !!!!!!!!!!!!!

note 46% and the UK is about the same of it's reserves - I remember All the politicians and MSM telling us there was only 25 years before it run out, that was in the 1970's.
but hey - applications for licenses for the 29th round have just begun (Q3 2016 - the red lined area in the l/h graph).
What kind of people are WE allowing this to happen ?.

ah but we're British and love being subjects as long as were winning golds - eh.
