I like them! They look super cool. They have a little window.

Some of the first batch are exchanging hands for silly money - apparently the first one is worth between £800 and £1200!

A strange thought - can you imagine all new notes coming out with 'King' Charles on them? also all coins. I guess it will happen some day.

    That would be .....weird

Theyre brilliant, not seen one yet but I can't wait for us to move over to them fully.

I'd like to see a move away from coinage, back to the days of the £1 note. But it won't happen...

    I think they should introduce a 99p coin, and a £4.99 note, and a £9.99 and £19.99 one too.

I hope they don't have the ripping problem that the northern bank ones had in the late 90s

The plastic fivers we had in NI 15 years ago were very prone to ripping, I presumed that's why they didn't catch on. Any slight nick in the edge will very easily tear the whole note in two.

I got one as change from a supermarket. When I used it as part of paying for a meal, the waiter kindly said you'd better check it on Google because the early ones are quite valuable. Sadly mine was a common or garden one. I think it's the AA01xxxxx notes you need to watch out for.
    It's not a competition.

  • I have a few of these already.

Looks like something you could play Monopoly with.

Hygienic-wise it probably makes sense, it's more durable too - I'm sure. But just looks weird.

Super idea, I love it! It'd also be good to have a 98p coin, in case something costs £1 and you pay with two 99p coins.

Went and set up a joint bank account with my wife last week (got married a few days earlier).

I asked the nice lady in Nat West if we could have a couple of new fivers and in exchange for a crinkled old ten pound note came back with two AA serial number fivers and told us to keep hold of them as a momento and a wedding present. Had no idea at the time they would be worth a lot of money.

I'd keep them for a good while. People cashing in now are nuts, they'll be worth a lot more in years to come.
